Water temp of just over 9c on Saturday while piking on a fairly big (3 mile long) glacial loch.

15c last night in lee valley, but a chilly night, and it chucked it down all evening. As usual, the pike enjoyed my tiny perch livebaits intended for eels.

Ee, it's grim oop north! Down here the sun always shines, every eel's at least 6lb and nuisance carp are all over 40. The rivers are alive with 7lb chub and 16lb barbel, and they crawl up your rods if you're not careful

We got the first proper bit of rain this week down here in this part of essex since mid june!...A lot of local waters were really feeling it so it was a well needed downpour as it came down heavy for most of the day and night...I hope there were a few silvers waiting for that to happen to help them on their way to spawn...Don't know about freshwater temps but the sea temps down here are still around 18c.

Had a couple of guy,s from the environment agency down on one of my local canals yesterday. They were doing a survey on nutrient levels and the like. I asked if they could take a water temperature test for me and they cheerfully obliged. With their high tech meters they recorded 12.5 or around 55 in english money. looks like i may have been a bit premature putting the eel tackle away. Anywhere else getting anything like this?
