Hi all,
I've just come back from a camping break at Mersea and for the first time ever fished a commercial .
It compromised three smallish ponds with the middle one being about as big as two camping pitches.
What disgusted me was that four people all right next to each other were continually catching Carp up to and over 10lb.
Is there any respite for these fish?
People work hard all year and are more than enttled to fish these places but it would seem the the ratio of fish to the confines of there home is well out of balance.
As it goes I fished the last lake which I had to myself and caught two fish which included a 7lb Mirror.
I won't fish there again but will fish the sea which is a bit more of a challenge.
Roll on the 'Glorious Sixteenth' ooh Everton have just gone 1-0 up ; the day's improving.

Cant stand commercial fisheries like that. I wont name names but made the mistake of fishing a place in Worcestershire where the fish were so hammereed that they actually whistled as they fed off the surface, their mouths were that torn and misshapen. Totally disgusted, went home ashamed to have given the owners my cash.
One of the true beauties of eeling is that the fish we aim to catch are uncaught, the eels caution is natural not created by abuse.
Phew ! calm down Orbeel ! Get off the soapbox!
Regards Orbeel

Quite, fished a place like that where the carp literally climbed on each others' backs to get to a dog biscuit :!:

Don't forget though lads some of these commercials do have some good eels in them, esp. where there are loads of small rudd as well as the carp which is often the case :D
