Had a good day chucking lures from the boat yesterday on one of my local lochs (eel611 knows which one!). Had 5 doubles to 15lb, 4 on the squirrley burt and 1 on a 8" yellow perch castaic. Fished from 9 till 4 with just a couple of half-hearted hits, as there was absolutely no wind and scorching sun, then at 4pm we got a breeze and they turned on for 2 hours then nothing again. Had 3 fish in 3 casts between 4pm and 4.20pm. Very enjoyable couple of hours sport!

Pike, I am hoping to target a few fish off the R. Wye in October. I let you know if successful.

Not massive amounts of tailwalking steve. All the fish came in areas that were between 13 and 20ft deep, but I was drawing them up to hit the lure higher in the water. Most fish came from around a hump feature that sits in an area that is roughly 22ft all around then the hump rises to about 15ft. Real fish holding feature, even though we saw no sign of prey fish on the finder at all. One fish came on the troll, and i've never had a more savage take, castaic was just bitten clean in half. Also picked up a line round my lure while I was trolling which had a 13lber still attached. Ended up biting it from around my lure and then hand-lining it in! That was quite sore but at least we managed to clean up a fish that was trailing at least 30ft of 10lb line! I hate these muppets that fish totally under-strength!

Ashy, a mate of mine lives in Bridge of Weir,Hes just bought a boat and its moored at Cameron house on lomond. Is it a good idea for him to drop me off at one of the many islands for a few days? Is it allowed?

Bloody hell steve, your mate must be doing alright for himself if he's got a boat moored at cameron house! Yeah, there are loads of islands on lomond, 23 decent sized ones. Some you can camp on, some you can't. One has an official site on it that some of my ranger colleagues manage. That's a good island to camp on, expensive though, 2 quid a night!! Give me a shout if you are thinking about coming up and i'll put you right as I worked on the patrol boat on lomond for 2 years. I'll probably come and meet you for a night or two as well.
