Anybody on here fish for Grayling at all?
Quite fortunate to have 3 rivers not too far from me that all have Grayling in them, the only problem is that they are all Salmon rivers so you can generally only get on them once the salmon season has finished. The season opened on one of them today though, so will be on there next week.
A fish of 2.5lb is the target this winter. Wish they went to double figures though, cos what a scrap you get off them!!!

I do a bit on the Teme and the Upper Severn, Ashy.
I know what you mean about the fight, they never give up.

yes mate, free stretch at Otley was good also. Had some cracking chub at pool at the back of the paper mill.
Boston Spa and Tadcaster were also good. Mind you its been a while since i fished there.
Did you ever fish Knotford lagoon. I fished there about 20 odd years ago. It has changed now though, but it did have some good eels in it as far as i can remember. Another excellent place is the ARC quarry in Otley. Hardly fished and full of fish. The old settlement ponds were good too.

Had some good perch from the mill and i had my first carp from Knotford lagoon (Bradford no 1)about 25 years ago. now that im into the eel fishing i would like to have ago on the Leeds Knotford ,Got my mate who lives that way to give it ago for the eels about 3 weeks ago but he blanked.Further up stream at burley in wharfedale theres amill where theres a cut from the river just like a short canal i was told years ago that if you lifed these grates under the mill and shon a torch you could see eels as thick as your wrist in the water i doubt it will be like that today but still interesting anyway.

I had my first carp from the leeds lagoon. I fished there a couple of years ago and couldn't believe how much it had changed. It gets really choked with weed now. I heard that there had been a huge fish kill/disease outbreak in the past and this has led to an excees in nutrients so the weed growth exploded.
I have had decent eels from there years ago but i wasn't fishing for them at the time.
I used to fish for eels in the park above the weir in Otley, used to catche loads, it was ideal cos we got lobs off the flower beds there, you had benches to sit on, chippy up the road and street lights. Entertainment was provided by the pubs chucking out and watching people going over the bridge totally hammered. Brilliant.
