It is with great sadness that tonight I was informed that James Holgate passed away last Thursday in hospital. I remember when I first met James Holgate in the NASA Conference held at Loughboro. I was working on the NASA stand and James had turned with Dave Lumby and was just giving some of the older NASA Committee some friendly banter. His humour was very infectious.
I have always enjoyed reading his articles in various magazines and also have no 1 to 6 copies of the first P & P Magazines.
A truly sad loss to angling. My sincere good wishes to his family and close friends.
This is very sad news James was a great ambassador for the sport of predator fishing always keen to publish Eel articles and supportive of Eel angling. He will be missed my sympahy and condoloncies to his family.
James Holgate, a thoroughly professional and dedicated journalist with a sharp brain extremely gifted in his ability to put words to paper, also a versatile and respected angler and decent bloke, will be missed but not forgotten.
