I was out yesterday on the boat with the lure rods. A jack on an 8" yellow perch castaic and a scraper double on an 8" perch replicant for me and my boat partner had a 19lb 4oz on a dawg. Water temp has gone from 13 degrees to 9 degrees in a week! From now, i'll alternate between pike and grayling for the rest of the winter. I'm on the lake of menteith on nov 7th, which i'm looking forward to very much!

Well, my fishing year has been mostly unproductive. I normally fish for carp during the warmer months, but this year my good wife and I bought a motorhome, so that's taken up a lot of our time. I also belatedly got into eel fishing, just as the 'season' is ending! Nevertheless, I have been encouraged to have a very serious go for eels next year. It is this forum, and also some articles in the angling press that provide me with inspiration. I feel it's a bit early for pike yet, and like Rikrod, I'll wait until the first frosts before I pursue esox lucius. I am also doing a spot of fly fishing for trout until the season ends in November. At present, a mate and I are trying for specimen perch on a commercial carp pool, and I'm hoping to beat my pb of 3lb this year. I've also found that I won't need to put the rollover indicators I bought recently away for storage, as they're just great for resistance-free perching/piking!

Not specificly Pike, but I've been out on my boat a few times after Zander and caught Pike.

Had a good afternoon session on Sunday with around 14 fish and a few dropped in just 5 hours fishing.
Nothing huge, with the biggest Zed been around 7lb and one decen Pike that might have been 12-13lb that found the anchor rope.

weathers fine Kev, but if you're planning to get on the Wye, then I'd either go and have a look or give rivercall a ring, there's a whole load of rain coming the rivers could get a little full.

Thanks Dave, The water I am thinking about trying is a local stillwater which has produced Pike to 26lbs. I did think about the Wye, but assumed it be too coloured for Pike. But thanks for the tip.
