At long last and after a summer of waiting for the planners to pull their fingers out work starts Monday on my lake, got to spend tommorow setting out with the Contractor cant wait, ive come up with some good habitat for Anguilla anguilla which will be built into the construction process, nice to be able to design your own lake from scratch. :)

I don't know Steve, after Duffy's infamous picture in the last mag, INQ think he'd rather go for the brown than the pink!!

Thanks BigKipper nice to hear from you again lifetimes ambition to have my own lake been stressful getting to this point but having been on site today and seen a third of it constructed it all seems worthwhile shame about the bloody rain i dont want it to fill yet.
Chris thanks for the offer but that is one job i am going to love doing, might see you down this way if you cant eelfish in Scotland. :)

Hi angry its not that big being 1 acre, 8 feet deep at the deep end two small islands connected by a sunken island which is full of 6 inch concrete pipes for Eels to make their lairs. The land is 6 acres so i will cut more size into it in the future, and i will be constructing another lake next year in a lower field. What i do want to achieve is a great looking lake with lots of features and i will putting in several weeping willows along with several good size lily beds. I have also ensured the ditches that lead from the lake to the river are clean and have no blockage for migrating eels, it will take several years to reap the benefits of this project but it will be fun getting there.
